Marco Falconi holds two Master degrees in Environmental Science (2001) and in Geology (2010) both achieved at University of Urbino (Italy). He has been working with ISPRA (Italian Institute for Environmental Protection and Research) since 2003.

His main activity in ISPRA is to support IMELS (Italian Ministry of Environment, Land and Sea) in the technical control of the Characterization Plans, Risk Analysis, Reclamation Projects, Monitoring Plans, Emergency Safety measures in the 41 Contaminated Sites of Italian National Priority List. He is author of several reports and guidelines on the topic of land and contaminated sites management with Italian and international institutions. He is member of the IMPEL Expert Team “Water and Land”, member of European Environment Information and Observation Network (EIONET) as NRC for soil. He collaborates or has collaborated with various international institutions such as EEA, European Commission, Joint Research Centre, UN Environment, FAO, on different aspects concerning soil and groundwater and with several universities in Italy and abroad (Georgia State University-USA, University of Paris Est Marne la Vallée-France, Hebei Safea-China, Rajagiri-India).

He received two post-graduate MASTER course in Environmental Managing and Environmental Risk Assessment by the University of Ferrara. His main activities focus on institutional control of remediation process and management of contaminated sites, on the development of new strategies for land management and risk management. He has contributed to the drafting of national environmental guidelines and he is part of the scientific committees of national environmental congresses. He holds university lectures and specialized courses. He has published more than 50 contributions to journals and conference proceedings.

Since 2005 he is the owner and CEO of Anfibia S.r.l., CEO of Explore S.r.l. - Academic spin-off of the University of Trieste, engaged in the field of land surveying in particular of coastal and port areas. Since 2010 he has been Coordinator of the Coast Expo Scientific Committee, the sector focus of RemTech Expo. He is chief manager in planning innovative solutions stemming from the most advanced research works at international level. Over the years, He has been working with a number of University Departments, also implementing new integrated software solutions in advanced GIS logic. Since 2011: Chairman of the AGI (Italian Geotechnical Society) Technical Committee on "Suggested Methods for Geotechnical Monitoring"; Coordinator and Lecturer of the ”G&S Monitoring Course” at Master “Geotechnical Desing”,  Sapienza University of Rome. He is currently cooperating with Universities, Public Authorities, industrial groups and leading private companies in research and development projects.

 Later he graduates in Civil Engineering and he establishes Archliving an Engineering and Architectural Company with a permanent staff of 35 professionals of which he is director and general manager. He is also the author of numerous publications in both fields of Physics and Seismic Engineering. He is speaker in many conferences regarding seismic risk management and he is consultant of the Italian Industrial Association concerning the evaluation of the risk assessment in the industrial sector. In the recent years he has been the scientific coordinator of a research within an agreement between the University of Ferrara and the Emilia Romagna railways in the field of railway risk management. In the last years he begun a process of internationalization of Archliving by consolidating partenrship with canadian and south african companies.

Geomorphologist and climatologist, he is currently professor of Climatology and climate risk at the Universities of Camerino and Ferrara.

He focuses its research on the relationships between climate changes and effects on morphoclimatic and morphodynamic systems, as well as on the effects in the socio-economic and tourist fields, with particular regard to cold physical environments and urban microclimates. He is part of the bureau of the Association Internationale de Climatologie; he is a scientific communicator at the most important national media and is author-coauthor of about 150 publications, mainly in international scientific journals.

Manager Technologist at ISPRA. Responsible for the Environmental Technical Standardization Area which works in support of the ISPRA General Management. Previously, he was responsible for more than 10 years of environmental control for industrial plants subject to the Integrated Environmental Authorization (AIA). In this role he has managed over 450 inspections in large industrial installations in Italy. Before taking on the responsibilities of industrial inspections, Alfredo Pini was responsible for ISPRA's support for the issue of the AIA. He is a technical consultant for judicial, civil and criminal authorities and is a member of some EU working groups.

He has worked at the National Fire Department as an Official, for 39 years. During the activities he has held positions of high responsibility at national and regional institutions in the field of security and civil protection, most recently the general coordination of activities related to the earthquake emergency that hit the Central Italy, Lazio side. Role recognized by the President of the Republic who awarded him with the Order of Merit of Officer of the Italian Republic.Today he coordinates activities and scientific projects with many Italian Universities. He collaborates with private companies and is President of an innovative start-up FIRTECH. He takes care of institutional relations for the association UMAN ANIMA of Confindustria. Always representing the national Confindustria is a member of the Central Technical and Scientific Committee for the prevention Incedi of the Ministry of Interior, Department of Fire Brigades. He has published numerous books on emergency management techniques and procedures and on civil protection legislation.

For 20 years he worked with the Guardia di Finanza and Carabinieri (Legione, NOE and CUFA) and with various Italian Public Offices to contrast illegal waste management. He has received important awards including 2 medals of the President of the Republic. He is the author of more than 400 publications dealing with the remediation of contaminated sites, emerging pollutants and integrated information management".
